My name is Hannah and I'm a surface design student in London. This is just a little snippet of what I do, where I go, and what I create. Thanks for following and nice to meet you.

Um,

I won’t lie, I’d really forgotten I’d wanted to keep this as an authentic record of my work, and therefore have neglected it over the past few weeks —- boooo.

I may not have time right now to explain and upload images of how my project’s developed and all the twists and turns but I’d just like to share a designer/craftswoman that I’ve found:

Lotta Jansdotter!! » http://jump.dexigner.com/directory/2016

I think the reason why I like her is the mix of Scandi practicality with simple beautiful clean design. Her colour palettes and shapes and the handmade, messy, artiness that I’m sure her studio’s full of » (just like  meeeeeeeeee)

To go back to my project, I’ve gotten onto the printing stage; printing a tile repeat and my favourite thing about it so far, it has to be said, is my new printing shirt which is covered in inky, bright, colourful goodness and protects my outfits from them :) Photos soon soon soon I promise…

I think this picture pretty much sums up the DROWNING IN WORK phenomenon that is ocurring in my life right now — after the week off in Paris it has just hit me how much i have to organise in my project. I’m loving it all the same though, and soon there will be pictures of some slightly more finished project than the explosion of photos and drawings that currently flood my bedroom floor! This week will hopefully be a good balance of honest good hard work and pub tymz.
New work posts and Paris photos to come…….

These are photos stolen from my fellow surface design friend Sally (twhit-twoo.tumblr.com). We had a very funny day yesterday consisting of spending hours in uni then coming home and doing EXTRA CURRICULAR DRAWING…also known as “drawing club” which is a thing we do where go round eachothers houses and DRAW and eat and sometimes wine. We are going to make a blog and hopefully a zine where we will compile big and little drawings that we’ve done in drawing club. It will be jolly. This one above is the mismatched, somewhat panoramic view from my kitchen window — to be finished next drawing club.

A few from Brick Lane and Columbia Road. I’ve been obsessed with these places since my mum would take me here for the last five years, now I finally get to have them on my doorstep!!!!!! I know they’ve changed lots and become quite commercialised, but I think that’s an important reason to do a project on them now — before they change even more.
(Not saying that all change is bad, i guess only time will tell…..)

…..DRAWINGS TO COME :D

First new project of 2012

I want this to be good. I’ve got to base the projects I’m doing for the next four months on an area of London, taken from a list that we’ve been given by our tutors.

Having faffed around for roughly a week, I now must decide. And the decision is between Kensington&Knightsbridge and the East End. I’m leaning more towards the east end and in all honesty I think I’m just going to go for it despite the fact that it’s a very large area and everyone else is doing it cause it’s so cool and hip

I’m doing it for my own reasons because I know I’ll regret it if I dont. Okay off I go.
